Assignment Instructions

Action research is a process for providing
meaningful interventions for real achievement problems in schools. The
overarching goal of the researcher is to bridge the gap between what is and what
ought to be. For this assignment you will have two options (please select one):

1. Create a presentation (e.g. PowerPoint,
Keynote, etc.) for you
school leadership on an issue that you would like to research. Your goal should
be to gain approval to conduct this research in the school/district.

In
your presentation
please include the following:

1. Topic

2. Introduction/Abstract

3. Literature Review: 4-5 resources

4. Research Questions

5. Participants: be
sure to identify steps taken to deal with any ethical issues that need to be
considered to protect the rights of the participants. There is a great article
by available on-line by Nolan and Putton (Action Research in Education:
Addressing Gaps in Ethical Principles and Practices
, 2007) that deals
with the ethical issues in action research. The PDF is available here: httpss://www.aera.net/uploadedFiles/Publications/Journals/Educational_Researcher/3607/10EDR07_401-407.pdf

6. Strategy and Time Frame

7. Data Sources and Collection

8. Integration of Action Research (what will you do with your findings?)

Presentation Rubric:

1. Includes a literature review (25 pts)

2. Identifies strong research questions,
participants, strategies and data sources (25 pts)

research could be integrated (25 pts)

4. Presentation
includes outside resources to support points (please utilize your texts and
scholarly research); submitted in APA format (which includes title
and reference page); and is submitted on time (25 pts)

2. Visit our on-line library and do
a search via EbscoHost for an “action research” project. Summarize,
analyze, and evaluate an Action Research/Research Study Report. Discuss how
reading examples that you find could help you develop as an educator that might
develop and utilize research in the classroom/school.

Paper Rubric:

1. Includes a discussion of an action
research article from EbscoHost (25 pts)

2. Evaluates the importance of the action
research (25 pts)

3. Includes a discussion of how action
research could be used in the classroom/school (25 pts)

includes outside resources to support points (please utilize your texts and
scholarly research); submitted in APA format (which includes title
and reference page); and is

Assignment
should be 3-5 pages (not included title and reference) in length and submitted
