After completing the library COMP 2000 module, your assigned
textbook reading and the unit content as needed, continue to develop a focused
knowledge of your topic by doing thorough academic research on the Internet
(using a combination of a general search engine like Google, Google Scholar,
other general search engines, and/or a metasearch engine). Choose two sources
and for each one prepare a bibliographic record. For this discussion, A. list
your topic, B. your focusing question, and C. post the two bibliographic
records. For each source,
1. Provide the source’s proper citation information (using
MLA or APA formatting – and identify which one you are using),
2. Provide a brief summary of what the source says (what
topic it covers and what the basic argument or main ideas are), and
3. Comment on what
you consider to be the source’s strengths and weaknesses, whether you find the
source persuasive and why, etc. Be sure to follow these directions — provide
everything requested here for full credit. You can refer to p. 73 for a brief
similar, but not exact, sample of how to format this discussion post. Complete
all the parts as outlined above and label accordingly. Peer Response due on
Saturday. I’ll be uploading a peer answer that you need to make a response. For
your peer response, comment on a student’s bibliographic records: do the
sources appear solid?; are the strengths sufficient?; do you have suggestions
for other source material?; are the citations properly documented?; etc.
